What? Two posts in a week, I know - crazy. Don't worry - this is probably not interesting to ANYONE other that M & C, anyway. Maybe T and K will care. :)
So, Baby and I had a wonderful "us weekend" this weekend. Did I already mention this? I'm totally too lazy to go reread my last post to see, but anyway, the point was that we were not going to hang out with friends, run mundane errands or do anything except hang out with each other - much like we tend to do if we go away for a weekend.
That said, I wish I'd thought of this before but we totally should have played tourist in our lovely Atlanta - you know, hit the aquarium, museums, art galleries, etc. Do the things that we're too busy to do during normal life. Whatevs, we didn't.
We did, however, enjoy:
Friday
a lovely lovely dinner at our favorite Indian restaurant - Desi Spice on Friday night. If you are in the Atlanta area, you are aware that we've have had an amazingly (and not normal!) temperate August. Comfortable evenings to dine and hang out outside. AWESOME!
We topped the evening off by finishing watching Milk. Wow, what an amazing and sad movie. We had started it freaking MONTHS (ok, maybe 1 month ago), but didn't get to see it all and then have been traveling and crossing paths so much that we haven't both had time to finish it.
Saturday
On Saturday we slept in, snuggled a bit, played with the kitties, and enjoyed a late breakfast (like, noon!) at Gato Bizco Cafe, yep - home of the Saturday Bedhead Breakfast that we never attend. We did run a few errands, but fun ones - not typical mundane-pick-up-the-dry-cleaning type of errands. We went on a search for shades for our condo. We want dark (blackout-ish) roller shades to go inside the windows, and then we'll have nice sheer white ceiling to floor curtains on the outside of the windows.
Blah blah - not that you care. Anyway, we hung out the rest of the day - talking about our upcoming trip and houses, and wants and desires. Just general fun time together.
We capped the night off with a date to ENO. It was delish! Here's my sexy-ass husband:

Hot. I know! Man, I am so in love with that man!
Sunday
Today, being Sunday, I was a little disappointed that we couldn't do brunch, but we can't when we are out of town so that was against the rules. Instead we had some delicious new cereal and booked some more tickets for our upcoming trip to Australia! Woot!
I'm so glad we did this. I think it was exactly what we needed. Even though Baby thought there was no way in hell I could be home and be away from my friends, I think I was DAMN GOOD at focusing on us. :) See? Apparently I do have some will-power!
Now, I'm sitting at the ATL waiting for a flight to a work conference in STL. Yay. Actually, it's going to be a lot of fun, I'm going to see a TON of people I haven't seen in a while and it will be great to catch up.
Also? the Y & U keys on my laptop are switched around and it's really really annoying. :)
Love,
ETK

3 bits of love:
Sounds great - sounds like a great time and well deserved. Maybe you could start "date nights" where it's only the two of you periodically?
Have a pal here who has very similar busy schedule with various groups. Recently we had plans for a group to meet up, then she cancelled cause her husband had a tough week and wanted some one-on-one time. Everyone understood and we all know we'll meet up again soon. Sounds like your pals understand also which is how you know they are good ones!
Sounds like you had a nice relaxing weekend, and there's nothing saying you can't do it again and do the aquarium, museum etc another time :)
I care--oh oh oh me I care!
Good for you and I'm so proud of you.
one thing I learned that I've held on to--that if I do not take of me--and mine (this is including Baby for you) that I will be worthless and unable to take care of anyone else. And I really like "taking care" of everyone else and making my home or my shoulder theirs to be at home in!
So good for you to take the time and recharge!
