Merry Christmas Eve

Yep - it's here, finally! Christmas eve!!! Woo-hoo! We are all here in Tulsa....me, Baby, Alli, Pups, the whole family!
We are doing nothing but eating, but we are going to go wine tasting this afternoon. In fact, I really need to hop in the shower. I will post pictures soon.

Monday Again!

Well, it was a great weekend. One little blip but we think that'll be fine today. After 3 days of projectile vomiting all over the house we took Mr. Micah to the vet. He was subjected to xrays (could it be ribbons causing this?) And bloodwork/needles (possible something serious?) And finally admitted overnight to be put on an IV drip. This AM they called to say that he'd done well overnight and they had just fed him. If he can keep it down then he can come back home today. Baby had to postpone his trip to FL (work) but I'm already sitting on the plane heading out.

Other than THAT the weekend was fabulous....

Friday, Baby and I had xmas. I was apparently a VERY good girl this year. VERY good. Or - I just happen to have the best husband in the entire world! I'm betting on the latter. Baby has enjoyed playing with his new toy - an iPod. He immediately loaded it with Iron Maiden (ick) and made me suffer through THAT the rest of the weekend. :)

Saturday was a great day! Baby and I had a bit of shopping to wrap up and then his company's holiday party. We had the best time ever!!!! The dinner was held at Taverna Plaka, where our wedding reception was held, and it was a ton of fun! If you aren't familiar with the place, it's really good Greek food and a total party atmosphere. There are belly dancers and around 11 PM the place turns into a dance club. There was dancing on the tables, shots of ouzo and general craziness! I think Baby got plenty of blackmail pictures of eveyone on the table. :)

OH MY GOD. I almost forgot to say how much I LOVE the US Postal Service!!!! Since I did ALL the xmas shopping I decided baby was responsible for getting everything shipped. Well - that motivated him to investigate the pay/print labels at home and FREE scheduled pick up by USPS! It's awesome! You just make your selections, the challenge is determing the weight of the package, pay with a credit card and print your label at home! You don't need anything special, print on regular paper and tape to the box. Then you can schedule a next day pick up anywhere up until 2 AM! How cool is that? So, we did all our shipping without stepping foot in the post office! SWEET!!

Nicotine made me a much nicer person though. I'm not even sure I like me now.

It's nice not being a slave any more. No planning breaks between calls and meetings to grab a smoke.

Effects of Nicotine

If it weren't for nicotine, people wouldn't smoke tobacco. Why? Because of the more than 4,000 chemicals in tobacco smoke, nicotine is the primary one that acts on the brain, altering people's moods, appetites, and alertness in ways they find pleasant and beneficial. As the noted tobacco researcher M.A.H. Russell once wrote, "There is little doubt that if it were not for the nicotine in tobacco smoke, people would be little more inclined to smoke than they are to blow bubbles or to light sparklers."

Anger, the problem with it

The problem with anger is not REALLY knowing what you're angry about. Is it lack of nicotine? Or are people really just that dumb (yes, all and in general)? Has nicotine just really affected my limbic pathways that use the neurotransmitter dopamine in such a way that I don't realize how annoying everyone (yes, just about everyone) is?

Seriously though, I am having a hard time realizing if I am angry because of not smoking or other stuff. Luckily, my horoscope is pushing me in the right direction. Today's horoscope was "Any especially difficult decisions should be postponed until things are clearer."

LOL - what sage advice.

Ha! Showing my age I believe.
Just a quick note, cause you KNOW I'm busy.

Friday marks the one month mark since I quit smoking. It's been easy but it's also been hell. The not smoking part is super easy. Just don't. Seriously. Stop it. The side effects are hell.
Side effects:
  • Anger
  • Depression
  • Being a great big meanie to Baby
  • Anger, lots and lots of anger
  • Boredom
  • Serious weight gain (which leads to both anger and depression!)

Throw a little PMS on top of that and you certainly get a fun-filled few weeks.

Well, hopefully the hardest part is behind us. One more week of work before vacation. Can not WAIT to have a bit of downtime. Don't count on any blogging during that vacation. I'm pretty certain I'll be throwing the laptop out the window and telling IT I accidentally dropped it while on a conference call.

Airport pet peeves

You know you love it when I complain. :)

1. If you are in zone 9 STEP AWAY from the boarding door until AT EARLIEST zone 7. If you to really follow the rules wait for zone 8. Jeeze!

2. Stop smacking.

3. Stop smacking in my ear.

4. Close your mouth when you are chewing - gum, food, whatever. Smacking is gross and annoying.

5. When getting on the train - let ppl getting off get off FIRST. Jeeze that is a common courtesy.

6. Get on the plane and get out of the aisle.

Off to warmer weather

So, I'm not nearly as cool as Trudi and off to some exotic Mexican location with warm weather and blue waters but I AM off to southern Florida for a girly weekend with Humdrum Girl. Maybe I'll even convince her to post on her blog while I'm there!



I am looking forward to a weekend of vodka, tonic and anything warmer than the 19 degree weather Atlanta is experiencing!

I wish I had even the sligtest exciting thing to post about other than that, but I don't really. Baby and I have already spent some of our Xmas loot. We treated ourselves to a new set of everyday dishes from West Elm. (I have been dying for square plates since we moved) AND we bought a fancy new digital camera. I will be researching and signing up for photog classes soon. :) it's my new hobby. The freaking manual for this thing is a huge ass text book and the reviews said it was "not for the weekend picture taker" and "definitely not for someone who wants to point and shoot". So, I have to learn to work it first! I will be studying the manual next week and possibly posting my first experimental pictures :)



Have made absolutely NO forward movement on the NYE Prom. I have GOT to get busy! I have been to wrapped up with xmas shopping and wrapping in every second of free time to date (paricularly after work wouldn't let me take my planned vacation this week). Next weekend is when ALL xmas presents have to get in the mail. :( keep your fingerz crossed for me.
